The modern handling capabilities contribute to the multifunctionality of the Port of Gda\u0144sk. An excellent example of this is the general cargo handling, which includes heavy and oversized pieces, as well as steel products and other goods packaged on pallets, big bags, or sacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conventional general cargo is handled at most of the quays. The Free Customs Zone quays specialize in the handling of citrus fruits and frozen fish. The Oliwskie, Wi\u015blane, and Basen G\u00f3rniczy quays predominantly handle steel products. They also handle heavy and oversized cargo. The Veterinary Control Border Posts located at the Wi\u015blane Graniczne Quay conduct detailed inspections of animal-origin goods in accordance with the current European Union standards. The infrastructure of PGE S.A. is also adapted to accommodate roll-on\/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels. Within the Free Customs Zone, there is a base for handling passenger cars. This location is particularly advantageous due to the possibility of storing cargo for an unlimited period of time without customs guarantees, quotas, duties, and taxes, as well as the customs clearance of cargo in batches.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The handling of coal in PGE S.A. primarily takes place at the quays of the Basen G\u00f3rniczy (Mining Basin).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mechanization of the quays enables the handling of coal in both import and export operations. The Basen G\u00f3rniczy (Mining Basin) is known for its high efficiency in handling coal and direct access to a railway siding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The annual amount of coal handled by PGE S.A. would be sufficient for almost a whole year of operation for the power plants.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The most diverse group of goods in terms of species in the port is constituted by the remaining bulk commodities. They include items such as aggregates, granulated sulfur, biomass, lime, clinker, bentonite, phosphates, and molasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the past 3 years, the Port of Gda\u0144sk has handled enough aggregates to construct a 163 km highway, which is equivalent to the distance between Gda\u0144sk and Toru\u0144. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
